annealerSo according to ‘our boy DHH’ Merb and Rails are merging. I think this can only be a good thing. I found the Merb community to be really adversarial to people using Rails and I never understood why. Here’s a list of my experiences with Merb and DataMapper:

- Frustrating and annoying and totally fucking up all my gems
Most of this was probably DataMapper’s fault, considering their entire site has now been replaced by a wiki that doesn’t explain how to get something resembling a stable install going but sure has a pretty logo and a Twitter feed. They really seemed to go hand in hand though. Alternative web framework, alternative ORM. As frustrating as it can sometimes be that Rails is so opinionated, it’s nice to know I can gem install rails and have a stable setup out of the box.
Good luck to Rails… Merb… Rerb core on getting 3.0 out and keeping it stable.
